Daffodil Festival network infrastructure

For the 2026 Daffodil Festival at Hubbard Park in Meriden, Connecticut, American IT Solutions designed, installed, and supported a new permanent network infrastructure to provide reliable connectivity for festival operations, vendors, and event support needs.

Community Event Network

Wired and wireless infrastructure for one of Meriden's largest annual events

A new permanent network foundation for the 2026 Daffodil Festival at Hubbard Park, covering main-office connectivity, park-wide outdoor Wi-Fi, vendor connectivity, security segmentation, and onsite support.

The community need

Reliable connectivity across a large outdoor event

The Daffodil Festival needed dependable connectivity across a large outdoor event environment. Vendors required internet access for point-of-sale and credit card processing, staff needed operational connectivity, and the network needed to remain stable across high-traffic periods of the event.

A festival-grade network has to do all of that without the permanent infrastructure of an indoor facility: outdoors, across a public park, with mobile vendors, mixed devices, and short windows for setup. The work is as much about planning and segmentation as it is about radios and cabling.

AIT’s approach

From design through post-event optimization

Six coordinated layers cover the project from initial network design through the event itself and into post-event optimization, building a foundation that can grow with the festival year over year.

  • 01

    Network design and planning

AIT designed a wired and wireless network for the festival's main office and the broader event environment, scoped around how the festival actually runs across its four-day footprint.

  • 02

    Outdoor wireless coverage

AIT implemented a park-wide outdoor wireless solution covering 200,000+ square feet, designed to deliver consistent connectivity across vendor and operations areas.

  • 03

    Vendor and operations connectivity

The network supported 90+ vendors with connectivity for point-of-sale and credit card processing, staff operational connectivity, and vendor internet access throughout the event.

  • 04

    Enterprise-grade equipment

The deployment was built on enterprise-grade UniFi networking equipment and engineered with scalability in mind to support the festival's annual four-day event and future growth.

  • 05

    Security and segmentation

AIT applied industry best practices, including logical network segmentation, traffic control, and firewall policies that isolate vendor traffic from festival operations while supporting a stable and secure environment.

  • 06

    Onsite and post-event support

AIT delivered installation and configuration, onsite support during the event, and post-event support and optimization so the network could keep improving year over year.

Result

A reliable network for the 2026 festival

The 2026 Daffodil Festival network operated reliably throughout the event and delivered improved performance and stability compared to previous years as a result of continued optimization.

Reliable event connectivity supports vendors, staff, payment processing, communication, and event operations. This project created a secure and scalable network foundation for one of Meriden’s largest annual community events, built to be refined and reused, not rebuilt from zero each year.
